A breast cancer bible April 13, 2009

Just what I needed after a shock diagonsis of breast cancer - information relayed in a detailed and scientific way which is clear but does not talk down to the reader. So much that is written on the subject is so "gentle" and simple that it is not useful. This book tells it as it is - don't read it if you are not prepared to face facts. But armed with this information you are empowered to beat the cancer. An invaluable reference book. It will be my companion throughout the chemo, surgery and radiotherapy for which I am scheduled.

This book was my 'bible' through my breast cancer and Chemo and radiotherapy treatments and even now I look in it for information about my tablets alternatives and side effects. It had in it everything I needed to know for every stage of treatment I was going through. I would certainly recommend this book.

Many books on breast cancer paint a rosy picture and portray how women make a marvelous recovery from breast cancer. This book tells it how it is. It explains everything you could possibly want to know from pre-diagnosis, surgery, chemo, radiation, how you are feeling etc. I bought loads of books on breast cancer and this book is by far the most informative. A fantastic reference book.
Invasive lobular carcinoma August 22, 1999

Dr. Susan Love clearly defines the difference between lobular carcinoma insitu and ductual carcinoma insitu.This helped me make a decision to follow my breast surgeon's recommendation to go to a cancer center for a second opinion when I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma in February, 1997. Only 10% of breast cancers are lobular in nature. The multidisplinary team approach that the cancer center offered me was very similar to the one that Dr. Love described in her book. This helped me to understand more about my type of breast cancer and to make an informed decision as to type of treatment. I thank Dr. Love for being courageous enough to come out and encourage women to be active participants in decisions made in regard to their health.

I have been diagnosed with precancer and have found this book to be a God-send. It's the only book I've found on the market that goes into detail about pre-malignancy. Dr. Love is very straight-forward in her advice and criticisms of the medical profession. If you need a second or third opinion, this book will clear your doubts. Most doctors don't know how to communicate to their patients and assume you know what they're talking about. Ever try reading a pathological report of a breast biopsy? This book will answer all your questions. Congratulations, Dr. Love, you've contributed so much to clearing up a medical problem which, unfortunately, the establishment has taken advantage of.
