Love it! July 29, 2010 LHN This is a brilliant system with all you need to get started losing weight. It comes with a mind programming cd, a dvd going over the basic principles and the book which also has a journal in to keep you on track. The advice is brilliant- this is not a fad diet and you can eat what you like as long as your follow the 4 basic principles. I lost 3lbs in my first week of the programme and had eaten all the foods I love.
This is excellent value for money, costs much less than diet programmes and is, in my opinion, much more healthy and effective. Give it a try!
You are what you believe yourself to be July 21, 2010 M. Cowen 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The main technique given is to eat slowly and without distractions, then you will feel when you are full and not want more. Unfortunately it does not work if you are just plain greedy and self-indulgent!
I love food, have lost weight and I'm still going without trying. July 12, 2010 Miss Joanne Whaley Why did I buy this book, because it was 50% off and thought I'd give it a try, I wasn't looking for a weight loss book, but how glad am I. I'm 35, not a big one for diets; I was close to size 14, thought I was reasonably healthy but thought I'll give this a go. That was 5 months ago; I've lost 7kg's, now fit size 8 jeans (15 years since that last happened) and am happier than I've been in years. Would I call it a revolutionary way to lose weight, no, its common sense, but I'm not a fool. I've been working hard for years and thinking of soooo many other things, rather than how much I was eating. It gets back to basics and makes you think about what you are eating. I started the 90 day program just before going on holiday, I immediately started losing weight (that's never happened on holiday) and now after the finishing the program 2 months ago, winter is here and I'm still losing weight.
I cannot recommend this package enough. I still eat all my favourites, pizza, cheese, chocolate but about half the amount compared to before. For the programme to work I recommend at least for the first month you are disciplined to create good habits, but they are not hard, eg - wait until you're hungry before eating, I was definitely a boredom eater previously. The CD is relaxing; I did listen every day at the beginning but tapered off toward the end. The journal I found was one of the most important parts, you could see progress, identify challenges and the best bit, it kept me positive. I'm still keeping my own journal and writing similar things in it. The techniques in the book, eg - craving busters, hunger scale are what get you thinking about how you eat. My favourite thing that happened at the beginning of the program was going to the supermarket and not buying any extra stuff, just what I needed.
I've read positive and negative reviews on this book; the negatives appear to be from people who are not thinking about the simplicity of energy in, energy out. If you eat more food than your body burns you will never lose weight. I haven't once been starving, let alone faint since changing my eating habits, but I've never been stuffed. The most surprising thing is how long it normally takes to get hungry. It would make me think, better do some exercise, I was looking forward to feeling slightly or fairly hungry; then enjoying food.
That's the essence of this book, I do love food; I'm savouring food more than ever and have become healthier. All in all, the book was a bargain; I'm looking slim and have saved money on my groceries :o)
I haven't lost weight but it's changed my life! July 5, 2010 Lollypop (Glasgow, Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Yes, I know that's odd to give it such a high rating if it hasn't worked for me--the whole point of it is to lose weight, isn't it? I reckon I am not eating quite slowly enough, and also until yesterday I wasn't bothering with the visualisation of myself as thin--maybe the latter will be crucial to me, who knows?
What I can say is that reading the book through, and then dipping into it regularly, and most of all listening to the CD, has somehow changed my life. Certainly, it has brought me back to a healthier relationship to food. I enjoy food much more, and it was a really revelation at the very start to be able to walk into the supermarket and think: nothing in here is off limits! I can have whatever I want! (if I can afford it!) It was beautiful to lose that sense of prohibition, of food as poison. The pictures in the book are beautiful and humorous, and I still enjoy looking at them. People with food, food with people, people with other people with food... healthy food, naughty food..it's all there and it's all ok.
The CD simply relaxes me immensely. It is less about food consumption, to my mind, and more about loving and trusting yourself. I have, since the 4 months of listening to this CD almost daily, completely rearranged my relationship to my workplace: I was going crazy with the stress and the anger at incompetent colleagues who are making it impossible for any of us to move forward with changes that have to happen if we're even to survive the financial crisis... Now I have thought of other ways to be fulfilled and maybe even to earn money if the place I work now becomes even less bearable than at present.
So, I can only recommend Paul McKenna's book and CD! And I'm about to order the one on building confidence..maybe I'll lose weight by listening to it! :-)
I can make you thin June 28, 2010 Harvekat (Oxfordshire) "I can make you thin" did nothing for me I played it every day for a week and it made no difference to my eating pattern. I have tried to get hypnotized twice before and it wouldn't work on me so maybe the book and disc are fine and its just me!I Can Make You Thin - Love Food, Lose Weight: New Full Colour Edition (includes free DVD and CD)
